Authors note: I am writing about point of view in the story "Thank You Ma'am" by Langston Hughes
In the story "Thank You, Ma'am", no ones point of view is clearly shown. If it was from the boys point of view, the lady would be shown as a harsh person. Even though she fed him and gave him money, she pretty much dragged him to her house.
He might have thought at first that this old lady was nice and scared, when he was trying to steal her purse, but he was sadly incorrect about that. Really, she was a stern, brave lady that wasn't scared of anything. He might have thought she would have hurt him when she was dragging him someplace that he didn't know. But instead she took great care of him and even gave him money to buy his shoes that he was hoping to get himself. At the end of this short story, he probably thought of her as a nice lady.
Even though no point of view was shown, the boy's and the lady's would have been very different. The boy probably viewed her as a nice but harsh lady, while she viewed herself as a reasonable person.
This is very good Alex I like it a lot.
