Imagine living a normal life and all of a sudden you are forced to move out of your home. Then you struggle to find a new one. The short story, “Home” by Gwendolyn Brooks, shows how hard it could be for you to lose your home.
“Home” is a comedic story. Normalcy is when everything is normal. “Homes” normalcy is when they are sitting on the porch. The conflict is the character or characters have an issue. The story’s issue is that they might have to move out of their home if their father doesn’t get a Home Owners Loan. The resolution, which is when the conflict is resolved, is their father gets the loan.
This story is not like any of the books I’ve read but it is a lot like the real world. In the real world there have been many foreclosures. According to www.fdic.gov, about 250,000 new families enter foreclosure every three months and 1 out of 200 homes will be foreclosed upon a year, for a city like Washington D.C., that’s 3,000 homes. Another surprising fact is that one child in every classroom is at risk of losing his or her home because their parents are unable to pay their mortgage.
Foreclosure can be a very scary thing for many people. Some people even end their life when they know that their house is going to be foreclosed. It can be very hard for you to sell your house, but it could be even harder to find a new one.
