Imagine having a job that you did and you were tempted to not do it by someone else. But since you were loyal to the person, you forced yourself to finish the job. The story “The Hundredth Dove”, by Jane Yolen, shows that, even when tempted, people will do what is necessary to finish an important job.
Many people are tempted not to do tasks like the fowler was in the story where he had to capture one hundred doves for the king. Even though people try really hard to convince them to not do it, sometimes even bribing them, they still do the task that they were given.
People who are given a task are usually trusted enough to complete the task, but some people are occasionally talked out of it. Even though some people try to convince them to not do the task, the person still completes it because they don’t want to lose their trust with the one who gave them the job. In “The Hundredth Dove”, the fowler did the job even though the dove tried to talk him out of it but he still finished the task because the king trusted him.
People are occasionally tempted not to do a job or task. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, but some people still do the job and whatever it takes to complete it.
