Katniss and Samuel

Samuel, a revolutionary war era kid who had to survive for a while because of his parents capture, is similar to Katniss, a teenager from a post-apocalyptic world who had to survive in a fight to the death. The two hunters had a few similarities, involving skills and their actions. They had their differences as well.

Samuel and Katniss both have survival skills. They have had to survive on their own for long periods of time by hunting for their food. Katniss had survive for days on her own in the "Hunger Games" arena, while Samuel had to survive in the forest.

Neither of them liked or wanted to kill other people, but they were forced to if they wanted to live. Samuel had to shoot an Indian and British soldier to keep them from killing him. Katniss had to kill another tribute to keep herself alive and to protect an already dying Rue.

 Although Samuel had been able to kill two people, he wasn’t able to purposely do it,   it was always by accident. After he killed them, he was momentarily shocked. When something happened to Katniss's loved ones, she wasn’t able to handle it. She would be haunted by the sight or thought of something happening to them for a long time.

The biggest thing they had in common was that they would do anything to survive, even kill people, no matter how much they didn't like it.
